Fashion Sense: An Interview with Deborah Howard of the Companion Animal Protection Society.-By Natalie King

Deborah Howard is raising awareness in her dedication to protecting companion animals. Howard started the Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) in 1992 when she noticed unsanitary conditions at a Docktor Pet Center and exposed the research on "20/20". Her work to expose unhealthy and dangerous conditions in pet store and puppy mill locations has taken her around the nation, and  has been featured in Life magazine, MSNBC, and New England Cable News.

Before founding CAPS, Howard worked as a radio news reporter, Lawyer, and Public Relations representative; all of which are aiding in her current cause.
Education, Howard says, is the most powerful tool in helping people make a safe and responsible animal purchase. "With dogs and cats being euthanized every day, you have the power to save an animals life by choosing a pet from the MSPCA or animal shelter" says Howard.

On www.petfinder.com you can search the breed and location of a dog or cat in need of adoption. You can support CAPS by taking part in the online auction at www.caps-web.org which features everything from a David Ortiz autographed Red Sox game jersey, to a trip for two to Hawaii.
