![]() Montreal has long been known as North America's "European" City with its prominent French culture, rich ethnic diversity and its amazing art and fashions. Montreal also manufactures one out of five men's suits sold in the US and is responsible for 70% of Canada's garment manufacturing. This is why it's surprising that the week of September 3rd - 7th was Montreal's first fashion week. The week's first show was a presentation of the city's up and coming designers. Maia, Aqu, GG Creations and Catherine Brule each presented a taste of the burgeoning talent to be found here. The collections had distinct artistic individuality, yet shared a youthful, fun and sophisticated thread. And much like Boston, these creative talents were excited, nervous and extremely sweet and congenial. Look to see these names on the international scene in the next few years. AQU
